Tom Parker
"Non-Representative Abstract Works of T Parker"(A solo exhibit hosted at the Broward Art Guild Gallery)
Intense colors and strong expressionism collide in this presentation of abstract works from fine contemporary artist Tom Parker. A self-taught painter who has been winning awards for his work since 1964, Parker currently calls South Florida home, and the Broward Art Guild Gallery is pleased to host this exhibit of fine works. Comprised of a variety of media using acrylic paint, watercolor, oil paint, and found objects combined to become a blend of non-representational art, this exhibit is sure to intrigue collectors and designers alike.
Parker's work has captured the attention of several galleries and buyers in the South Florida market. In addition, he has several pieces with private European collectors. Parker is an active member of Broward Art Guild, Ft Lauderdale, Florida and Boca Raton Museum of Art, The Artist Guild, Boca Raton, Florida.
A public reception is scheduled for Friday, March 23rd from 6:30-9:00 at the Broward Art Guild Gallery, located at 3280 NE 32nd Street in Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308. The exhibit will be on display from March 17th-23rd from Noon-6:00pm. This exhibit is free and open to the public. The gallery phone number is 954-537-3370.

Artist Statement
I gather my inspiration from people, experiences, thoughts, daydreams and all sorts of day to day activities. When I want to make a statement to the viewer or a viewer I usually develop a canvas through research of a subject and with thought and vision of what I want to say. Almost always the canvas morphs into a mixed media event for me which I truly love to create. The following is one of my favorite statements from someone that had recently viewed my home studio and a number of my abstract paintings: "Making sense of Tom's abstract core would be to wither into dream state unaware of previous nurtured conditions. Pieces such as 'Red Husk' will make any desensitized observer realize he just abandoned himself." My art attempts to reflect 'everyday life' and the influence of our environment. Pace of life and associated emotions are important to memorialize.
